Misha: 23 weeks

Eating
I seem to always worry that she will start to comfort nurse to sleep.....based on my experience with Meera but I'm starting to realise that might never be a problem with her. If she feeds then she is hungry. Although I notice that she likes to nurse just before her nap and it usually makes it easier to put her down. But she will always stop nursing before I put her down.
I had to take her to the Klinik Kesihatan for her immunisation this week and it took quite a while so she missed out on her morning nap. By the time we got home it was 3 hours past her last sleep so she was definitely tired. She also hadn't fed well in earlier. So when we got home and she was all fussy I figured I'd feed her first then put her to bed...but she kept refusing. So I guess feeding to sleep isn't really required unless she is genuinely hungry.
Having said that, I'm still trying to figure out how to get her to sleep thru the night. I mean she generally has an 8 hours stretch at night but I'm hoping for the 12 hour kind. Cos now she eats at 8 then wakes up around 5 to feed and continue sleeping. I am hoping she will get to a point where her last feed will last her till the next morning. I am starting to think that's not gonna happen until we start solids. Seems like it's quite normal for babies to wake up in the night (different from my experience with Meera)
I have been trying to give her a bottle around 10pm but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Sleeping
Naps are starting to get longer. I realise if she has a rough transition, I can get her to extend the nap by patting her back to sleep. Not sure if this is a good idea....but for now whatever works. There are naps that she does transition on her own but mostly I have to pat her back to sleep and she will have a 1.5-2 hour nap. She usually takes 1 short nap followed by 2 long ones. Totalling around 3-4 hours.

Milestones
Finally saw her roll from tummy to back on the mat. (Previously she only did it on soft surfaces...and not consistently). But now she is getting much better. When I put her on the mat and she's on her tummy she can now turn over herself...most of the time. Recently when she's in the car seat she'll try to lift herself up. Looks like she's trying to sit. Meera actually noticed it first and pointed it out to me.
I also notice that when she's lying on her back she tends to bang her hand down on the surface repeatedly... not sure why she does this.
She's also trying to grab things more often. Especially the rattle on her rocker.

Misha: 22 weeks (5 months)

Eating
Right now she's nursing around 7 times a day and 1 bottle (around 120ml). For the past few days, we started to give her the bottle for the dreamfeed and she has finished the bottle (she used to only drink around 90 ml). I also think it's helping her extend her nights. When I nursed her, she woke up around 4 am (6 hours after the dreamfeed) but when she takes a bottle she wakes after 8 or more hours. Still too early to tell for sure but we'll see how it goes.

Sleeping
She's averaging around 13-14 hours of sleep in a day. Generally she's getting around 10-11 hours at night and the rest during naps. Naps are usually 3-4 in a day. I notice her morning nap is usually short then she has a long nap around 11 am. The afternoon naps varies quite a bit but if she doesn't sleep enough she'll fall asleep when I go fetch Meera from school. Now that school has started I think her routine will be more consistent. Wake-time is ideally 1.5-2 hours (but it's shorter if her nap was not good).
I'm still trying the sh and pat method of putting her to bed. But lately I've realised that I'm nursing her to sleep! Initially I was feeding cos whenever I fed her after waking she was so distracted she hardly drank. So when naptime rolled around and she fussed I figured she's hungry and fed. So starts the cycle of feeding to sleep. And lately I'm noticing I'm always feeding her and she falls asleep. So I'm not really doing sh pat anymore.
Need to remind myself that when she fusses it's not always a sign of hunger! If I pat and sh loud enough and persistently she will fall asleep. I just always doubt myself and nurse her instead!

Milestones
She is still rolling from back to front but I hardly see her rolling the other way round. It's happened a few times while she's in bed but whenever I put her on the mat she will roll to her tummy and after she tires herself out she starts wailing! I have yet to see her roll over on the mat.

Meera: Updates

I just wanted to take a moment to note down a couple of things going on with  Meera. With the weekly posts on Misha I realise I hardly ever mention Meera. I guess at her age the progress is very gradual that sometimes we don't realise straight away. During the school holidays I kept her busy doing 'homework' which included colouring, maths, phonics and reading. I realise her maths is really good. I don't know what kids her age can do but I feel like she is really good with numbers. Sometimes I try to incorporate it onto our conversations just to see how much she understands and every once in a while she surprises me. The other day I realised that when faced with a problem like; You need 6 and you already have four. She can tell me we need another 2. And with the math workbooks I got her, she can already add past 10. She can count in her head. I also taught her how to add two 2 digit numbers by putting them on top of each other and adding the ones and tens separately. She catches on quite fast.
On the reading front it's progressing quite slowly. She can almost read all the words from Peter and Jane level 2. And she's quite adept with phonics but English has so many exception that it's hard to work on. I need to be more consistent in this.

Misha: 21 weeks

This week marked the beginning of a more mobile baby. :) Now that she can roll over, whenever we put her down she will attempt to roll. So putting her to bed has been difficult. She can roll to her tummy but still hasn't figured out how to roll back..so a lot of frustration. Seems like she prefers to sleep on her tummy now. Only problem is sometimes she gets uncomfortable  (I guess) and can't do anything about it (so I have to come and roll her back). Have to remember to buckle her in when I put her on the rocker. Caught her trying to turn while sitting in it and she was close to falling off!

Eating
She still wakes up at night to feed...I am still not sure if it's hunger or habit. Trying to give her a bottle to see if it extends her nights but so far not able to tell for sure.

Sleeping
A lot of disruptions this week. I'm guessing it's because she's constantly trying to roll over. She's not content to do this only during the day....even in the middle of the night she wants to practice. Sigh...
She's starting to get more regular naps...usually 3-4 a day. Generally 1 will be quite long (1.5-2 hours) with 2 short ones. If not it's 4 short naps. She has trouble transitioning so sometimes I have to go up and pat her back to sleep.
Bedtime is still not fixed. Have been trying out different times to find the optimum but still not sure.....the rolling around didn't help either. She's been waking up in the middle of the night and doesn't go back to sleep for a while. Not sure if it's cos we're putting her to bed too early (under tired) or hungry or just cos she wants to roll around.
Decided to start back the dream-feed but with a bottle.

Going Out
She does not nap well in the stroller. Come to think of it she does not nap well outside the house. :(  But she's a lot more content in her car seat or the Baby Bjorn carrier. Last Sunday we went to Aquaria and she was quite content to be carried around in the carrier. She even took a couple of naps in it (although very short ones).

Vaccination - Doctor's Visit
Took Misha for her pneumococcal jab today. Got her weight at the doctor's: 6.2 kg. She cried during the jab but no fever or fussiness after that.
I also asked the doctor about her head...I thought it was slightly flat cos she use lie down on a particular side. But the doctor said it was just misshapen due to natural birth and the head squeezing through.
I also checked whether current guidelines was still to start weaning at 6 months and he said yes. So we will be starting solids soon...yay.

Rolling Over

Yesterday Misha did her first roll from back to front! I keep telling myself not to get too hung up on these things...but I just can't help waiting impatiently for progress. And then I regret it.... cos along with any major development comes sleep disruptions. :(

Misha: 20 weeks

This week has been pretty uneventful. I realise I'm always updating details about her eating and sleeping more than anything else...but at his age that's pretty much all they do. Although I do see her personality getting more apparent....quite easy going, not fussy.

Strangers
This week we had a few outings with family. Misha is starting to get wary of strangers...when my dad sat next to her in the car she kept crying every time she caught a glimpse of him. That night we had dinner with Jing's family and when they tried to carry her she cried. It got to a point she was so upset she couldn't calm down for quite a while. Even after we carried her...it was like she was screaming in protest.

Eating, Sleeping
Same old stuff. :)
I noticed something quite amusing.... Right now whenever we put her to bed, we will pat her and say 'sh, sh sh' in a certain rhythm. We sometimes stop before she is completely asleep.  One night after Jing left her on her own, I swear she started making grunting noises in that exact way. So it was like 'unh, unh, unh'. LOL! It's happened a few times since then

Milestones
She seems to be trying to roll but still not there yet. She has started reaching out to grab her feet. She still doesn't seem to grab things unless its put within her grasp. Doesn't seem to interested in touching things either.
